The timing of this interview is perfect, being both Mental Health Awareness Week with a focus on the importance of kindness, especially during the current lockdown.
David Hockney has been painting now for more than 60 years, and he was in the news quite recently for drawing the spring awakening on his iPad as a form of respite from the news, the piece was titled ‘Do Remember They Can’t Cancel the Spring’. He recently gave a short interview to the Louisiana Channel which publishes inspiring weekly videos which I often watch. They are a non-profit video channel and were launched by Denmark’s Louisiana Museum of Modern Art in November 2012.
“The world is very, very beautiful if you look at it. But most people don’t look very much. They scan the ground in front of them so they can walk, but they don’t really look at things incredibly well, with intensity. I do, and I’ve always known that.”
Take some time to go out and look around you…
