Today marks the release of Jack Sharp’s new album Good Times Older (via Stick In The Wheel’s From Here imprint). Earlier this week, Thomas Blake reviewed the album for Folk Radio on which he concluded:
Good Times Older is a winner for a number of reasons: it does the difficult things well and makes them look easy, it delves into the less well-known corners of British and Irish music and emerges with handfuls of rough-cut gems, but most importantly it gives us some idea of just how gifted Jack Sharp is as a singer and interpreter of song. We can only hope that his foray into the world of traditional music continues.
To mark its release, he has shared another live video, this time for the beautiful Treecreeper, a song he wrote in tribute to one of Britain’s elusive birds. I’ve seen these birds on only a few occasions and in the same place close to where I live; they rarely stray very far from their native feeding habitats…this is a beautiful poetic guide to a most beautiful bird.
