Rowan Rheingans’ 2019 album was released as a companion to her show ‘Dispatches on the Red Dress’. The ambitious and deeply personal one-woman show, inspired by her own grandmother’s youth in 1940’s Germany, was premiered with a 10-date national tour last June followed by a two-week run at the prestigious Edinburgh Fringe Festival, scooping the ‘Fringe First Award’. The album was produced by Andy Bell and features a whole host of incredible musicians.
The album was one of our Featured Albums of the Month, reviewed by Thomas Blake who concluded:
“The Lines We Draw Together seems to revel in contradictions. It is an album for our times, but steeped in history. Its poetry is not short on intellectual rigour, but its message is one of earthy wisdom and simplicity. It confronts pain and talks of the possibility of a better world. But Rheingans’ songs are good enough and big-hearted enough to accommodate all these contradictions. It feels like an important album, an album that is full of life.” Read the full review here.
