We are excited to announce that we are working with Hudson Records and co-hosting their ‘Listening Club’ on Sunday mornings at 10.30 am.
I’ve not taken part in a listening club before, so I had no idea what to expect when I listened to the first one last Sunday, namely Sam Sweeney’s Unearth Repeat.
Hosted by Hudson Records, the party kicked off with Sam sat comfortably at home in his chair with headphones on, ready to go. Fans were also logged in, ready to listen to the album and hear Sam’s commentary and stories behind each song. The beauty of this online format is that the video element is pre-recorded but the watching of it is a shared live experience. This means that you are also able to type in questions and add comments with the band also on hand to chip in and answer questions. I have to say, it was a remarkably chilled experience and we even stopped for a tea break, so it was a very relaxed armchair experience. Sam provided a brilliant insight into the album, and it left me with a deeper appreciation as he explained what was going on in various songs and even revealed elements to the album that I’d not picked up on before. For those that missed it, you can watch below, but if you want to see the chat that went on then watch it on YouTube here.

In short, it was a perfect way to enjoy a Sunday morning in isolation with a cup of tea! That got Andy, from Hudson Records, thinking, maybe we should do this every Sunday morning whilst we are all at home, so technology willing, that’s exactly what we are going to do, curated by Andy, Folk Radio and Hudson Records are co-hosting a series of Listening Club sessions. An hour or so of music, commentary and conversation.
We have a few very special artists lined up for the listening club, featuring Hudson Records, Self Releasing and other Independent label’s artists; hopefully, you will all enjoy joining us in the sharing of some beautiful music on a Sunday morning, at least for the next little while.
