Lankum’s new album ‘The Livelong Day’ had remarkable reactions right across the music press.
“Writhing with the terror of our times one moment, then rising with indescribable heart and hunger the next; this is traditional song stretched and submerged. … right now, to these ears, it sounds timeless” David Weir, Folk Radio
Following the album’s release, the band delivered three sold-out nights at Vicar St in Dublin as well as sold-out UK tour and European dates. Today, Lankum announce their biggest London headline show to date at The Barbican on 15th April 2020 as well as major new dates in Europe and the bands biggest US shows so far (all dates below).
Late last year, the band featured on Bob Boilen’s ‘All Things Considered’ on NPR where they provided a contemporary Irish musical journey with plays of music from their latest album alongside personal favourites from the likes of Lisa O’Neil and The Deadlians. They clearly made a lasting impression as on their next US trip, they will be recording a Tiny Desk Concert on NPR which is also hosted by Boilen.
“Artists such as Portishead and Brian Eno come to mind. An album of the year for me” Bob Boilen – NPR (USA)
To accompany the announcement of the new tour dates is a live video of ‘Hunting the Wren’ directed by Peadar Gill and shot at the band’s recent sold-out Vicar St. shows in Dublin:
Last week Lankum’s album The Livelong Day was nominated for the Choice Prize Irish Album of the Year, the ceremony of which will be held on 5th March.
