Following the premiere of Nyack last month, Cambridge-based New Yorker & Alt-folk Singer Songwriter, Annie Dressner returns with new single Out in the Cold, the lyric video for which you can watch below. The track was produced by her husband, singer/songwriter Paul Goodwin. Gentle fingerpicked guitar and intimate keys are the backing to this thoughtful track that explores strength in the face of adversity, while Annie’s understated vocals carry you through the story. Annie will be out on tour in February 2020 ahead of her new album due in April. She tells us:
“I wrote this song back in 2012 to raise money and awareness for Hurricane Sandy. At the time I had only recorded and sold it as a very stripped down demo that I made in my bedroom on Garageband. I decided to rerecord it as a single. There are so many people who are without, especially during the holidays. Please go outside, have a look around and help those in need. Thankfully I was fortunate and never went without as a child, but I do remember walking past a family almost every day on my way to school. There was a boy about my age. I always wondered what happened to him.”
Annie also told us that if you download this from her Bandcamp here, any money that she earns from this song between now and 1 January will be donated directly to Shelter.
