Watch the video for the title track from Dan Whitehouse‘s 2020 double album “Dreamland Tomorrow” (Reveal Records May 1st 2020). Dreamland is also our Song of the Day.
Co-written with John Elliott of The Little Unsaid. A two-disc set, Dreamland was produced by label MD Tom Rose, whilst the Tomorrow disc was produced by Boo Hewerdine.
Much of the new album was written and recorded to a backdrop of a country breaking down, in an increasingly derelict precinct in the former heartland of England’s industrial midlands, a union flag flies over the castle and zoo, all that’s left of the towns picture postcard history. This isolated space is what informed the recording of Dreamland Tomorrow. The lyric for Dreamland was inspired by reading about the UK’s oldest theme park in Margate, first opened in 1880. Britain’s seaside towns are interesting now, warm childhood holiday memories mix with the despair and divisive nature of our current political landscape.
The Dreamland video was filmed and directed by artist Martin Hyde who has worked with Lau and The Little Unsaid on previous artwork projects. Dance and choreography by The Secret Dance Club.
The song is streaming on all platforms from today (December 20th 2019).
