Last year, Phillip Henry, best known for his work with Hannah Martin in their Edgelarks duo, release a solo album titled True North. In his review, Glenn Kimpton called it remarkable, a singular amalgamation of tunes collected while on a decade-long exploration of and with slide guitars.
As well as being a solo album, it also featured just solo instruments, the only adornment being occasional foot taps and the natural reverb of strings, something that impressed Kimpton in his review who also happens to be a finger-style guitarist: “That purity in the tune adds more gravitas to it and gives the sense of a musician absolutely confident in his ability to leave everything but the essentials out of this project.”
Taken from the album, here he is performing Domino Road live at Kidogo Arthouse, Fremantle WA.
