Last Friday saw the release of None of My Words, the new album from Live Miranda Solberg, who performs under the name Louien. In the Folk Radio UK review of the album, Bob Fish concluded “In the guise of Louien, she has created a special disc centred around relationships, introspection, as well as the grief and mourning surrounding the death of her father. Despite the pain, Solberg notes, ‘Grief allows for beautiful things as well.’ All are on display in None of My Words.” (Read the full review).
Taken from the album, watch Louien performing ‘Heart and Mind Alike’. Øyvind Røsrud Gundersen recorded the sound, and Nikolai Grasaasen made the beautiful video.
Louien: “This video was filmed at Brageveien studio, which is where we recorded the album. It’s a beautiful room with all these little details that catch your eye; pictures, plants, all sorts of instruments. It’s always made me feel at ease, and so it was the perfect place to open up and create music. We wanted to capture some of that vibe in this live video. My musical soulmate and partner in crime Halvor Falck Johansen plays with me on this one, sort of taking it back to basic; he’s been a huge part of my development both as a musician and as a songwriter, and having him by my side makes performing vulnerable songs like this one that much easier.”
The song is to Live’s father – “…It’s a reminder that grief is not something you get over or move away from, it’s something that stays with you and you learn to live with. I think there’s beauty in that.”
