As many of you will know, RANT features four of Scotland’s finest fiddle players – Bethany Reid, Jenna Reid, Lauren MacColl and Anna Massie. Since their 2013 debut, the band rapidly established a reputation for developing and delivering beautiful, complex arrangements of traditional music which saw them pick up nominations in the 2014 BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards and Scots Trad Music Awards in 2016.
In 2016, they released Reverie, a Featured Album of the Month on Folk Radio on which Neil McFadyen commented:
Reverie sees them expand on those initial discoveries and take the music to new horizons with peerless elegance.
They are now ready to share their 3rd album ‘The Portage”. They announced that the album was recorded over 4 days in the renowned Mackintosh Queen’s Cross, the only church in the world to be designed by architect, artist and designer Charles Rennie Mackintosh. This space was the ideal setting to capture what RANT do best: showcasing the rich resonance of their 4 fiddles in various tunings and textures in a stark, honest recording.
Accompanying the announcement is a short album trailer as well as the opening track Göran Berg’s / Crow Road Croft. Visit their shop to pre-order CD, Digital and limited edition artwork greeting cards.
