Swedish artist Sofia Talvik is set to release her new album ‘Paws of a Bear‘ on October 4th. The lead single ‘Take Me Home’ has already made a big impression with it debuting in the top ten U.S. Folk Radio Charts. Like the lead single, this new track ‘California Snow’ will certainly add weight to the statement that Talvik is most certainly an artist on the rise. The album, which draws parallels to the melancholy indie-folk of fellow-swedes First Aid Kit, explores dualities of stagnation and freedom, sacrifice and dream-chasing, work and family, along the way experiencing personal revelations that forever shift her perspectives on time, life and love. It is the latter that brings focus to California Snow on which she shared the following:
“I wrote this song for my husband for our anniversary last year. We had just started a tour in California where we had gotten stuck in a snowstorm, our little RV is not equipped with winter tires so it was rather stressful. Well, we made it to Arizona when our fan pulley bracket broke in the middle of the desert. Just a few days later we were playing a show on our anniversary and I surprised him with this song. It’s a small diary note about our life together and my love for him.”
Paws of a Bear is os Released on 4th October 2019 (UK/EU) via Makaki Music.
