This month saw the release of The Lines We Draw Together, the new album from Rowan Rheingans which will be launched, with full band, on Thursday, September 5th at Kings Place (details below). It’s also one of our Featured Albums of the Month that Thomas Blake reviewed here.
Today, we have the pleasure in premiering Rowan’s video for ‘Lines’ which was filmed by Sam Wisternoff, Ill Spectre Productions. Rowan shared the following:
“Until a new thread is made, the spider spins endlessly. With the knowledge that this thread alone won’t hold the weight of our history. It is not this thread alone that has carried us this far. But the thread of a long umbilical cord; the bloodlines of old letters, the tug of the past, the pull of tomorrow, the knot of borderlines, picket lines and picket fences, the mesh of language, poetry and anguish, the paths that dancers paint the room with, the rope we clasp, the lines we draw, transform and untangle: the thread of the old idea that we can be better, which somehow always survives in the clutter.
“We are all of us bundles of lines. If we could see these lines, they would stop the traffic roaring past. They would be everywhere. Like the webs of spiders; natures great repairers.”
