We have a video premiere to share from BBC Young Folk Award nominees Cup O’Joe. The Northern Ireland based trio features siblings Benjamin, Reuben and Tabitha Agnew. It mentions in their bio that they can deliver a fusion of hard-driving Bluegrass with a mix of Jazz, Old Time, and Swing. As they demonstrate here, they can also take the foot off the pedal and deliver the sweetest of sounds. When they asked Folk Radio UK to premiere the video for ‘Till I met You‘ we were so impressed with what we heard we also made it our Song of the Day.
All three play to an extraordinary level of intuition, lifting and pushing Tabitha’s vocals to the fore when needed as she emotes the sweet loving nature of the song, and when those harmonies kick in they just take it to another level…in a way that only siblings can. The Banjo, Mandolin and Fiddle play intricate melodies through-out, weaving their way in and around the vocals and on top of the solid foundation created by the Bass and Guitar.
Till I Met You is an original song from Cup O’Joe and will be on their upcoming album which will be released in January 2020. The essence of the song draws from the experience and joy of being in a long-distance relationship, but the hardships of a travelling life are far outweighed by the happiness of being with each other.
