Sturgill Simpson heads into progressive territory on his latest offering ‘Sound and Fury’ which he described in a press release as “a sleazy, steamy rock’n’roll record”. As revealed back in July, at San Diego’s Comic-Con, ‘Sound and Fury’ is more than an album which sees Simpson teaming up with Japanese manga artist Takashi Okazaki (Afro Samurai) and Director Junpei Mizusaki (Batman Ninja) to make an accompanying new film that “merges American rock music with anime in a way never seen before.”
Both the album and film will debut on September 27 via Netflix and Elektra Records. Watch the video for Sing Along below which he premiered today on Youtube. Despite the cheery song title, let’s just be clear that we are talking about a “futuristic, dystopian, post-apocalyptic, samurai film…”
