Melbourne contemporary folk outfit The Maes recently released their self-titled new album with the previous trio reduced to the core duo of sisters Maggie and Elsie Rigby following the departure of founding member Anita Hillman. With added harmonies provided by award-winning Brisbane musician, Monique Clare, in his review of the album, Mike Davies declared it a “terrific album and as sublime as ever”.
The Maes are set to play London’s Green Note on Friday, September 20th, for those who can’t wait, check out their new live video for opening track ‘Treat You Better’ which features a great compilation of live recordings including Orkney Folk Festival, Woodford Folk Festival, Telluride Bluegrass Festival, WOMADelaide, Yackandandah Folk Festival, the Northcote Social Club and Bighouse Arts.
