As we mentioned late last year, Kathryn Williams has a new boxset Kathryn Williams Anthology which is set for release this month (28 June). With the help of her label, One Little Indian, she has been compiling the boxset over the past couple of years. The anthology covers her work from Dog Leap Stairs to Hypoxia and everything in-between and she has given some original artwork to the label, which will become limited prints to go with the box.
The twenty disc boxset contains ten studio albums with accompanying bonus discs and two booklets featuring lyrics, memoirs and contributions. All artwork originates from various paintings and drawings by Kathryn.
Kathryn told fans recently: “Thinking back to sitting in my studio surrounded by tapes, mini-discs, reel to reels, newspaper clippings, invites to the mercury prize night, tour photos, demos, out-takes and b-sides etc, it’s definitely been a good few years in the making. When we started this I didn’t want to sell you back what you already had and as the most wonderful and loyal supporters of my music, I wanted to let you in on the other side. The private demos, inside the studio and more intimate home recordings…I want you to know how lucky I feel to have been able to make this, to be 20 years into a recording and writing career with the same burning desire to write a good song.”
Kathryn will be going on tour in September and October – “I’ll be looking back through the albums and revisiting songs and times. Neill MacColl, who has been a co-writer, player and producer with me over the years, will join me for the dates along with bass player Jon Thorne. You’ll be able to buy the box set off me then too.” See the dates below, there will also be a one-off show in November in Edinburgh (details TBA).
