Today marks the release of ‘New York Minute’, the new single from James Riley and our Song of the Day, taken from his forthcoming debut album ‘Transatlanctica’, out later this year. The single is accompanied by a brilliant video, which we have the pleasure in premiering below. The cinematography by Indio Martinez and additional work by Mattew L Perez has that gorgeous vintage cine Kodachrome look to it with the scenes captured and cleverly edited together like a street photographer on a roll, capturing the energy of a bustling city.
That driving percussive backbeat and the insistent melody is accentuated in the video by the subway drummer scene and great visual editing while those rooftop scenes compliment Riley’s expressive and soulful vocals. He says of the track: “It’s a song about possibility and inspiration. New York is a place that lives and breathes its own myth, and I could feel that very viscerally when I first moved to America… there’s an uncanny, almost dreamlike feeling about that city, which I was trying to capture in the song”.
You captured it perfectly!
