Our Song of the Day comes from the enigmatic North Wales trio Golden Fable (Rebecca Joy, Tim Joy and Jonathan Guy) with their stunning new single Finery which is out today, taken from their forthcoming new album Alchemy.
Tim Joy tells is that “Finery is based around the idea of being immersed in a world of plenty, but not having access to it. The restraints may be tangible, physical things, or beliefs, allegiances or morals.”
On its own, there’s no denying it’s a powerful and inventive contemporary track that beckons you to hit replay – there are so many layers to the song that reveals more on each play and how can you resist Rebecca Joy’s enticing and dreamlike soprano? But the accompanying video which was Directed by George Ellis and features Kapow Dance, a Manchester-based performance company working in dance, physical theatre and circus, takes it to another beautiful level. It is visually stunning, featuring superb camera work and the choreography is both intuitive, dramatic and mesmerising – a flawless performance that captures the essence of this song on every level…this goes beyond bold and imaginative.
Golden Fable’s new album Alchemy is due for release on 14th June via Full of Joy Records, don’t hesitate in pre-ordering it now: https://fullofjoyrecords.
