Taken from Megan Henwood & Findlay Napier‘s forthcoming EP The Story Song Scientists, our Song of the Day is Wild Wild Country. With a deep love of songwriting, you know the result is going to be pretty unique with these two and the opening paragraph of the press release sums up their spontaneous and refreshing approach to songwriting…
Snape Maltings, Aldeburgh 2016 and Megan Henwood and Findlay Napier are a few hours into an EFDSS (English Folk and Dance Song Society) run songwriting retreat. They are outside drinking their seventh coffee of the morning. Napier’s driven nine hours from Glasgow and is a bit wobbly. Henwood’s back from a month-long writing trip to Nashville and she is jet lagged and delusional. “Fancy writing a song about maths?” Napier enquires. And so the seed for this songwriting partnership was sewn.
Here’s there video Wild Wild Country with a suitably vintage style video for which the two get in character – A lost live backstage video from the Story Song Scientist 1978 tour of the Frisian Islands featuring their 1977 Belgian number 38 hit single “Wild Wild Country”.
The Story Song Scientists will be released on Dharma Records on March 15th.
