Golden Apples is the second single (after Vasilisa which we premiered here) from Daria’s highly anticipated third album – Earthly Delights, due on 1st June 2019.
The new record is a grateful and playful exploration of human nature: love, desire, duende, curiosity, ambition and other urges that drive us, both physical and spiritual. The games we play…

Daria: “The Firebird of Russian folklore represents pure unchained desire, pleasure without consequence. She flies into the Tsar’s garden at night to steal, uncaught and unpunished, his most precious treasure – the magical golden apples. The Tsar sends his sons to catch the mystery thief; but the Firebird’s enchantment sends them into deep sleep, night after night. From the Firebird’s uncluttered perspective, what’s the point of all that effort to guard something you possess, but never dare to enjoy? We all have hungry Firebirds held captive in our rib cages, desires we will never release, perhaps not even confess to. If we were to release them, all at once, the world would catch alight!”
