Lowpines returns with a new single to start 2019, and announces headline show in New York, plus full UK tour opening for Avi Buffalo.
The hushed and melancholy Lost & Found is the latest in a series of singles by Lowpines. The series comprises extra songs recorded during the sessions of last year’s debut album ‘In Silver Halides’ which won praise across the music press and featured heavily on BBC 6Music and US College radio, where it entered the top 100 chart.
The album will be available on vinyl for the first time from February 2019. Self-produced, performed and recorded entirely by himself, Lost & Found has echoes of Lowpines’ early releases, with it’s simple arrangement of picked guitar, near-whispered voice, and some mysterious layers of atmospheric sound. The song was picked up by Steve Lamacq on BBC 6 Music, continuing the station’s long held affection for Lowpines music.
Lowpines is the recording name of British songwriter and producer Oli Deakin. Hailing from the Lake District in the north of England, and now based in Brooklyn, Lowpines initially started out as a series of lo-fi phone recordings, overdubbed with multiple layers of reverb-soaked instruments. Early recordings developed into several EPs, released on ltd edition cassette over the past few years, and winning fans at BBC radio and blogs alike. Debut album ‘In Silver Halides’ was released in 2018 to much acclaim.
