At the end of last year, Canada’s The East Pointers put in some solid mile whilst touring in the UK making it to venues through the wind and rain along with an adoring audience who soon forgot the autumnal weather. They were in the UK promote their new album ‘What We Leave Behind’ (reviewed here) and Folk Radio UK’s Martha Buckley caught up with them at a village hall in Uffington.
The audience greeted them with rapturous applause, and as she said, the band “seemed genuinely at home with the crowd, reminding everyone that dancing was positively encouraged.
“The sense of community pride only increased throughout the show, as the line at the bar grew longer, the crowd of dancers got bigger, and Jake Charron set about making the jaw harp look effortlessly cool.” Read the full review here.
The good news is that they arriving in January to begin their first UK tour of 2019 where they will be revisiting the good folk of Uffington alongside a number of venues including London’s The Lexington which is sure to be a lively night.
If you fancy a genuine winter warmer then now’s your chance, see dates below. Here’s a reminder of their roots-driven sound as they perform ‘Woodfordia’ on their home turf of Prince Edward Island at the Rollo Bay Fiddle Festival.
