The rootsy uplifting song ‘Bless The Ground You Grow On’ is the first single taken from Hertfordshire based singer-songwriter Odette Michell’s forthcoming debut album and is produced by Stu Hanna (who also contributes violin, bass and mandolin) of folk duo Megson. We have the pleasure in premiering her video for the song below on which she shared the following:
“The inspiration for this song came after I took a trip to the famous Chalk Horse and Dragon Hill, a place in England of immense folklore and the birthplace of the legend of George and the Dragon. I’d never been there before and was struck by both the vast history of the places I was seeing, as well as the breathtaking and strangely mysterious impressions in the landscape there. It seemed a natural choice therefore when considering locations to head back there a few months later to shoot the video for the single – albeit on perhaps the windiest day of the year! I wanted the song to be a reminder that we don’t have to look too far for inspiration and perspective when we are fortunate enough to have an incredible heritage like that within reach of us.”
Bless The Ground You Grow On is released as a single today and is backed by the song The Eastern Seas. You can stream the single here on Spotify. It also features in our Regular Folk playlist on Spotify here alongside many other new releases that will brighten up your day.
