We take great pleasure in sharing the video for Life is a Drag, the new single from Rob Heron & The Tea Pad Orchestra. The single is due for release this Friday, November 9 (including Ltd 7″ Vinyl here) and will also be featured on their upcoming album ‘Soul of My City’, which is due on February 1, with a UK tour to coincide.
Rob shared the following:
Life Is A Drag is a song about drag, cross-dressing and not judging people for what they want to wear, or how they wish to present themselves. Inspired by Lux Interior of The Cramps and dedicated to Rob’s late friend Craig Wilson AKA Sheena Revolta, who fronted Newcastle-based “drag-punk’ band Women In Revolt. Musically, the song is akin to previous Tea Pad Orchestra releases, but visually, this video shows a new angle on Rob Heron’s mind.
Sleeve notes: “On a Sunday afternoon in February 2018, I sang three songs at a tribute gig to the late Lux Interior of The Cramps. My scratch-band was called Bobby Heroin & The Drug Train. In homage to Lux’s wearing of stilettos and general androgyny, I wore full drag for the first time ever. It was then that I realised…life is a drag, if you don’t dress it up. To Hell with anyone who thinks any different…dress however you want, and be whoever you damn well want to be” – Rob Heron a.k.a Bobby Heroin
