Our Song of the Day comes from English folk trio Faustus. The Deadly Sands is from the Ruth Tongue Collection, a cheery tale…(tongue in cheek – sorry)…which the band cut straight to the chase in their description: “The sands of the Severn Estuary swallow up unfortunate sailors. Everyone dies.” The live session was filmed at Halsway Manor in Somerset (just down the road from Folk Radio UK) where they were Artists in Residence for 2016.
