Watch Laura Victoria performing I Can’t Stop Thinking About You live with Jo Cooper and Josh Wolfsohn (Video by Nick Slade, Togada Studio). The song is taken from her new album which she is planning to release in the Winter.
Laura’s musical start actually began with FolkESTRA North, the youth folk ensemble based at the Sage in Gateshead, founded by Folkworks when Kathryn Tickell was the musical director (the current director is Ian Stephenson).
A few years ago now, we reviewed Laura’s debut album, Head Above Water, it was a featured Album of the Month. On that album she was again accompanied by Jo Cooper and made a big impression on our reviewer Simon who concluded:
Laura has a unique sound that certainly benefits from the chemistry she shares with her friend and accompanist Jo, but she also has a magical ability to the shift musical shapes to cover the broad range of her emotive songs. For all of the underlying themes of loves travails, the hurts, heartaches, rejections and standoffs, there is a resilient spirit that shines through Head Above Water. For Laura is undoubtedly better to have loved and lost and when she turns those sentiments into songs like these, then we are all winners.
