THe first mention of Denmark’s Dreamers’ Circus on these pages came in 2015 when Folk Radio’s Neil McFadyen was covering Celtic Connecrtions. They were the supporting The Elizabethan Session at The Mitchell Library although this was all unplanned and was a result of some shifting of schedules. Note by note they began to dazzle their unprepared but delighted audience with Neil concluding that the performance was one of the highlights of the festival.
Neil didn’t take much persuading to cover their album ‘Second Movement” a few months later. His description of them still stands well today…they will refuse, gleefully, to be restricted by genre or by tradition. Their approach is all-embracing and their technical ability simply outstanding.
Last month saw the release of their third album ‘Rooftop Sessions’ via Vertical Records, their first album to be given distribution outside of Denmark.
As can be heard on ‘Then We Waltzed’, they continue to live up to and go beyond expectations with their inventiveness.
They made a remarkable impression on us back in 2015 and ‘Rooftop Sessions’ is sure to take them to that next level of breaking out into a wider international audience.
In Neil’s words, Dreamers’ Circus will carry an audience from calm contemplation to a euphoric exuberance – a journey to be relished. Jump onboard.
