Check out this cover of the Rolling Stones ‘It’s All Over Now’ by five-piece band Ransom Pier who hail from Queens, New York and who take their name from Charles E. Ransom Beach near lead vocalist Hayley Harrington’s childhood home on Long Island, NY.
They told me this version was driven more by the Grateful Dead’s version…whatever the inspiration, Hayley Harrington’s vocals have that jazzy edge which makes it perfect. Hayley (vocal and guitar) explained:
“It’s All Over Now is a song about someone whose partner cheats on them and generally treats them like dirt. While the Stones’ version seems to focus more on the triumph of getting rid of someone who hurts you, we wanted to emphasize that it can still be really painful after they’re gone.”
William Carrigan (bass) added “I wanted to arrange the song as though it were a soundtrack to something dystopian – The Last of Us or The Walking Dead before that show jumped the shark. Mysterious protagonist advances alone into a threatening landscape. That sort of thing.”
Hayley departs on a North American tour from tomorrow so be sure to check her out if you’re in the area:
