Songs of the Saxophones, the debut album of The Saxophones (husband & wife duo Alexi Erenkov & Alison Alderdice from Oakland, CA) is out now via Full Time Hobby and they have revealed a new video for Mysteries Revealed. It doesn’t get much smoother…timeless with a Lynchian undercurrent that you can never quite shake off. It’s also the second track from their album to feature as a Song of the Day on FRUK.
Following a period of studying jazz but becoming disenchanted with its direction, Alexi Erenkov and his wife Alison Alderdice formed and wrote the ‘Songs Of…’ during a period in which the pair were living on a boat during a very wet winter in the San Francisco Bay Area. Recorded in 10 days in Portland, the record takes inspiration from 1950’s exotica and Hawaiian albums (Edhen Abhez, Buddy Fo, and Martin Denny), 1970’s outsider Italian songwriter Vittorio Impiglia, and a host of third-stream and West coast jazz records. The result is a unique offering, full of captivating stories about growth and the human capacity for change.
