The name Orchestre Tout Puissant Marcel Duchamp may well be a new name to many of you, but I doubt this will be the case for very long, now that the Swiss-based collective has swollen to a stage creaking fourteen in number.
They were formed in 2006, initially as a six-piece ensemble by their bassist Vincent Bertholet whose dream of having an orchestra one day has now come to fruition. Sauvage Formes is their latest album, and like their 2014 album Rotorotor, it was produced by John Parish and recorded at the Real World studios near Bath in the UK.
There really is no sure way to convey in words where they sit musically. While capable of delivering a wall of sound they are equally adept on the minimalist level, drawing on a huge mass of influences from across the globe they are indeed a walking laboratory of sound and what you get in return? Ecstatic delight. They are unlike anything I’ve heard before.

To get a true flavour of how incredibly diverse, fresh and exciting they are, watch them performing live at Paléo Festival De Nyon from last year.
