Were you happy before you left on the trip?… “No, I think I was really depressed…I felt very very lost. I didn’t have a sense of identity…I also think I was struggling with a sense of purpose.”
So begins Headed East, a short documentary shot on 16mm film telling the story of a two-month journey by Jack Harries & Fraser Rigg across ten countries, to Budapest and back. Their rules were that they would live off the grid, wild-camp whenever possible, cook their own food and no technology…embracing spontaneity and with no plan they set off with two bikes, pots and pans, essential clothes, two cameras and a large bag of rice.
The journey is to feature in a new book featuring 100 pages of 35mm photos, 16mm film scans, journal entries from the road and a pull-out map.
