We first introduced Welsh sing songwriter and musician Ali John Meredith-Lacey, better known by his moniker of Novo Amor back in 2012.
A lot has changed since then, including his presence and following, although the sentiment and emotion he conveyed in those early songs still remain his strength. Several EPs on, he is set to release his debut album Birthplace on October 19th via AllPoints. His latest video for the title track is cast in a deceiving sentiment as a Freediver swimming in a vast and beautiful ocean confronts man’s careless devastation of a vast natural habitat. The video credits list support from Zen Freediving who are based in Singapore and whose website quotes Umberto Pelizzari – Scuba divers dive to look around. Freedivers dive to look within.
Whilst the video initially reflects that sentiment of Pelizzari it’s when looking around that the diver is finally confronted by a mass of plastic pollution which takes on the form of a large whale. A sadly telling image of pollution in our oceans today.
