The pre-order campaign for Jeffrey Foucault‘s 6th solo record ‘Blood Brothers‘ (CD and Vinyl) is well underway on Pledge here with just over a couple of weeks left to run. It’s set for release on 22nd June via Blueblade Records. Talking about the album Jeffrey told fans “I wrote this record fast. There are a couple of old songs, but mostly I finished songs in the six weeks after booking the sessions. I went into the studio with people I love and admire – in fact some of the best musicians this country has produced – and we worked hard, with the kind of passionate intensity one associates with ten year-olds damning a creek for no reason. We offer the product of that labor up to you now. Early reviews have been favorable, with both my mother and my mother-In-Law saying they ‘like it.’”
The album was recorded at Pachyderm Studio in Canon Falls, Minnesota and features musicians Bo Ramsey, Eric Heywood, Billy Conway and Jeremy Moses. There’s also a number of guests singers including Jeffrey’s life partner Kris Delmhorst, as well as Pieta Brown, Tift Merritt, Laurie Sargent, and Kate Lorenz. He jokes that many of those mentioned are married or entangled with the band and were to embark on the road all at once and together, “we would have to call it Company Picnic.” Kenneth Pattengale from the Milk Carton Kids also plays a guitar duet on the song ‘Pretty Hands’ to close the album – “though he is not married to any of us, so far.”
In addition to the new album there are many great rewards and incentives in the Pledge campaign including two brand new, and unreleased Jeffrey Foucault albums: JEFFREY FOUCAULT, LIVE IN PORTLAND (recorded at the Alberta Rose Theater in Portland, Oregon, 11/5/15, with Billy Conway on drums and Eric Heywood on pedal steel and electric guitar, a righteous outing, even without bass) and the original HORSE LATITUDES SOLO/ACOUSTIC DEMOS, featuring solo versions of the songs from that album, a few songs that didn’t make it onto that album, and alternate versions of songs that did. Both are on CD.
The first single from the album is the title track which he wrote with Billy Conway:
Jeffrey has also made an album trailer which features his duet with Tift Merritt on ‘Blown.’
