The latest video from Don Kipper for their new single is a scorching Greek number called Min Orkizese written by Dimitris Semsis and performed by the legendary Roza Eskenazi. Don Kipper take it in a new urban direction, influenced by the sounds they hear around them in London (from Turkish and Greek Folk Music to Romani music and Klezmer). This should be enough to whet your appetite for their forthcoming new album Seven Sisters due for release next month on 29 June via World Music Network.
Combining the fiery virtuosity of Eastern Europe, the soulful sound of the Mediterranean, and propelled by a cosmopolitan urban energy, this innovative band will grab you by your soul and push you headlong onto the dancefloor.
This is an album with feet in many worlds, and its diversity is a strength that reflects London at its best, with solidarity and respect across boundaries and borders. These many roots help the band stand taller, exploring new meeting points that conjure up modern London and the ways that people, places, music and technology are interwoven. This is an album that’ll grab you by your very soul and pull you halfway through London before it’s finished with you.
