In his review of Widdershins, the latest album from Grant-Lee Phillips, Mike concluded “It’s a potent work in response to a moment in time, when, whether it’s clockwise or anti, there seems to be, as Dylan put it, no direction home that is a road rather than a minefield.”
Taken from the album, watch his latest video for King of Catastrophes which is also our Song of the Day. Grant-Lee Phillips shared the following on the song and video:
“King of Catastrophes is a bundle of anxieties, disguised as a lullaby. I tried to squeeze in every cataclysm I could think of in three minutes, all the ones that rhymed at least – I could have gone on. We were snowed in for a few days in Tennessee. In my state of cabin fever, I made this video.”
This month you can catch Grant-Lee Phillips on tour in the UK, see dates below – take the opportunity to catch him live, this is music for our turbulent times where we have more questions than answers.
