Earlier this month we reviewed 365: Volume One (read the review here), the latest album from Aidan O’Rourke featuring Kit Downes. As Glenn mentioned in his review, “It’s quite a feat and, certainly for O’Rourke, quite an inspiration, as it pushed him (against James Robertson’s ‘don’t do it!’ advice) to write a tune a day for a year [in response to Robertson’s collection of short stories ‘365’], the highlights of which will make up this double-disc set coupled with volume 2, which will be released next year.”
“There was once a man, so old that most of his family and all his friends had left this world before him” is O’Rourke’s musical response to James Robertson’s short story ‘Imagination’ and in their new video we have the pleasure of an extended version on which we hear both James Robertson reading from his short story and the musical response. The combination of word and music works perfectly, so much so it’s our Song of the Day.
They kick off their tour this week and James Robertson will be joining Aidan and Kit on several of those dates (details below).
