Last in the UK in 2013, the Swedish world touring folk vocal group Kongero return again this month for their fourth UK tour, this time with their new album KOM! Kongero have just finished their 7th tour of Canada, the tour was a great success, highlights included a standing ovation at the Bourse Rideau in Quebec City. The new album KOM was recorded and produced by Otto Wellton at Kingside Studio and published by Dimma Sweden. Watch them performing Mitt hela hjärta below:
Kongero’s new album maintains a rich variation of their own compositions as well as traditional material arranged by their four members: Emma Björling, Anna Larsson, Lotta Andersson and Anna Wikenius. They have been inspired by their neighbouring countries with a polka from Finland, an Estonian lullaby and a polska from Norway and they have also put music to some of their favourite poets: among them the late Swedish Prince Wilhelm.
Founded in 2005, their bio tells us that they began on a blanket in the sunshine, during the folk music conference Nordtrad and Kongero had their first concert that same evening. Since then, they have established themselves as one of the leading folk vocal groups in Sweden. They have released 3 full-length albums, a Song Book and have a beer named after them.
While they may not have a crate of that beer on tour with them they will have four remarkable voices that are sure to sweep you off your feet.
