Taken from his most recent release Everywhere A Man Can Be, watch Canadian folk and country artist Zachary Lucky and his band performing “Can’t Say Why”. They performed the song live – in a one-take fashion – at an intimate performance in Zachary’s now hometown of Toronto Canada. The band weaves their way through the song – with the lyrics sitting atop the waves of pedal steel and upright bass.
Zachary shared the following about the song:
When I was working on writing the songs for Everywhere A Man Can Be – about a month before we went into the studio I set a goal to write a song a week, for no particular reason – maybe in hopes of getting another song or two. One of the songs that came out of that month of writing was “Can’t Say Why”. The song didn’t particularly strike me when I wrote it – I thought it was good – but I didn’t know that it was the song that would get picked up on radio in Canada. We didn’t even perform the song on the album release tour, but it has since become one of my favorites. It is a bit of a restless – traveling song. It talks about the feelings that I get deep in my gut when I’ve been out on the road for two or three weeks – that feeling of not quite sure where you’re going to or coming from.
