The Official UK Tribute Tour 2018 celebrating the music of England’s finest folk fiddler Dave Swarbrick will visit Liverpool’s British Music Experience on 28th January.
Starring the sensational Jason Wilson Band (Toronto, Canada), Martin Carthy, John Kirkpatrick & Simon Swarbrick (plus very special surprise guests throughout the tour) ‘SWARB! It Suits Him Well’ will be a fitting tribute to a folk legend.
A member of Fairport Convention from 1969-79, Dave Swarbrick is regarded as a founding member of the British folk music movement and has been described as ‘the most influential [British] fiddle player bar none’. He led a prolific career right until his death in June 2016.
Swarb didn’t want a funeral and his wishes were honoured, but…he didn’t say anything about a great big wake! So here it is, played by his dearest pals and uniquely his fiddling maestro, protégé nephew.
This is an opportunity for all his friends and fans at last to raise a glass and party in his memory. The show will be covering his whole extensive and matchless career; with the music taking you through the decades, remembering the fun and the brilliance that was Swarb.
One of Swarbrick’s fiddles has a place in the permanent exhibition at the British Music Experience so if you can’t make the 29th January, be sure to still visit on another day!
