Mesadorm is a collaborative project, designed to be a truly unique expression of each member’s artistic palette, bringing together a stunning array of musical concepts and timbres – a statement they easily validate on their debut single ‘Tell Me’, the first track to be taken from their forthcoming album ‘Heterogaster’, released May 11th, 2018.
Made up of five longstanding friends from Bristol the song and video not only reflects some of that city’s rich cultural history through the sparse synth and trip-hop beats but shows their uncanny ability to find that perfect line between pop and experimentation. They achieve a rare and colourful psychedelic minimalism that is strikingly engaging. We’re looking forward to hearing more gems.
Mesadorm shared the following on the song/video:
“Tell Me, the music video, is the first of a series of collaborations between Mesadorm and filmmaker Tom Jacob. It was filmed and edited in our hometown of Stroud, during which time only one window was broken. In the video, Mesadorm take a playful look at how overwhelming learning can seem in this age of self-realisation and the internet. The pendant swinging between triumph and despair, caring and not caring, adult control and childish abandon.”
Mesadorm was formed in 2015, all are high calibre performers in their own right and have played with artists such as Goldfrapp, Paloma Faith, Rae Morris, MIKA, The Magnetic North, High Contrast, The Unthanks and Frank Turner.
Blythe Pepino (singer/songwriter – Mesadorm) recently parted ways with the band Vaults after a three-year stint signed to Virgin Records. Although the project ended amicably she struggled to feel at home in the realm of popular music and never lost her passion for the strange and left-field. Gratefully she returns to the world of arthouse music armed with an album brimming with psychedelic ideas and philosophical observations. Expect delightfully mellifluous melodies juxtaposed with stark Bjork-esque electronic beats from upcoming producer Aaron Zahl.
Mesadorm are: Blythe Pepino (Vox/Keys), Aaron Zahl (Guitars/Production), Daisy Palmer (Drums/Bvs), David Johnston (Bass/Bvs), Jo Silverston (Cello/Bvs).
