We have a new song to share from Yorkshire-born singer-songwriter Findlay Brown. Home, his first original recording since 2015, is our Song of the Day. A song full of his quintessential musical trademarks; a gentle, gorgeous melodic folk song that inspires imagery of the most idyllic montage, reminiscing on halcyon days and the intimate comfort of home and family.
Talking about the song Findlay told us “This song is a little peek into a typical Sunday morning with me at home with my wife and son. I like my sleep and my wife will often play music to coax me from my slumber. We love to play Count Basie’s “Kansas City Suite” it just starts the day off right.”
Home Lyrics
I hear you calling, I keep falling in and out of sleep
our love’s unspoken, we don’t need to speak
I’m feeling lazy, you put Count Basie on the stereo
we’ll start the morning with an evening show
Lift me head and fly away
in my heart you’ll always stay
as we get stronger every day
Home, home
Your hands that bind me, as you find me it never lets me go
the love that meets us let’s your sweetness show
how can I teach him, a child to reach him with features of my own
the world keeps turning as we watch him grow
Lift me head and fly away
in my heart you’ll always stay
as we get stronger every day
Home, home
Home is taken from Findlay Brown’s forthcoming new album due out early next year – a search for real beauty versus narcissism in the epic battle between dark and light. “I realize that for many years I’ve been feeding the “bad wolf” and need to feed the “good wolf” in me. Sometimes it is like walking on a tightrope trying not to fall into temptation.” says the Yorkshire-born singer-songwriter. “It is also reflected in the kind of world we see today.”
