Hudson Records have revealed a great live session featuring Jon Boden & The Remnant Kings performing Bee Sting, which was filmed and recorded live at Abbeydale Picturehouse in Sheffield earlier this year. This is as striking on its own as it is nestled in the tracks of his latest album Afterglow, which, as Glenn pointed out in his album review (read it here) offers a real change of pace, a slice of optimistic hope and a story of love overcoming chaos: ‘the night has just begun / The fuse lit by a spark / And now I’ve found you in the afterglow / I can find you in the dark’.
The Remnant Kings really make this track shine, from the shuffling beats to the beautiful strings, harmonic guitar lines and some really powerful emotive vocal harmonies that accentuate that feeling of hope.
The session was Recorded and mixed by Andy Bell Filmed and Directed by Jim Lockey – Handheld Cine Club.
