From the moment I first heard ‘When we Collided‘ with its beautiful opening guitar motif and Danish artist Lasse Matthiessen‘s deeply resonant vocals, I was put in mind of one of Micah P Hinson‘s most beautiful songs – Beneath the Rose (2007). That song had an equally enduring and powerful video and here, Anthony Molina (Director) and Frederic Eiden (Editor & AD) have created something that matches, maybe even excels this. It is both sympathetic, uplifting, beautiful and poignant. There’s a stillness and calm, accentuated by the slow-motion images and the depth of emotion expressed in Matthiessen’s vocals that make this the perfect audio-visual match. But the best is yet to come when you first hear the duet with American singer Sara Hartman…it’s spine-tinglingly beautiful. This a real tour-de-force of musical passion that just works on every level…a classic that you’ll return to time and time again. Brilliant and beatiful.
In life, you continuously reach a point of reflection. Where are you? What are you feeling? What is real and what is perhaps still just a pleasant illusion that makes it easier to live with status quo? When we Collided deals with this theme. The protagonists wander through a summery night in Paris, not knowing what the morning will bring. Thus, they live in the moment…
Having been writing songs since he was a child, Danish songwriter and musician Lasse Matthiessen will release his new EP When We Collided on 10th November 2017.
