Listen to the captivating and beautiful debut single, What The Whisper Said, from singer-songwriter Reema (out 8th December on Lowswing Records). There’s an ethereal quality to her low mellifluous vocals which blend beautifully with cyclical guitar patterns and dreamy jazz lines on this song. The arrangements are kept minimal and slightly subdued, allowing her vocals the chance to shine, which they do so, brightly.
The single is taken from The LowSwing Sessions, a beautiful collaboration between Reema and producer, composer and arranger Guy Sternberg as part of his analogue label initiative, LowSwing Records. Reema shared the following about the song:
“What the Whisper Said’ is a dark ghost story about an old man driven mad by a secret that he and his former lover kept until she died. He hasn’t spoken since. It was an incredible treat to record it live with beautiful playing from 2 flutes, bass clarinet, clarinet, trumpet, viola and cello alongside my electric guitar and voice. The atmosphere in the studio was amazing with the close concentration of knowing we were recording to tape and couldn’t change anything, mixed with the wonderful feeling of hearing the sound develop.”
The LowSwing Sessions is out on 8th December 2017 via LowSwing Records.
