Near the beginning of this year Scottish Gaelic band Mànran unleashed their third album An Dà Là – The Two Days. It was a Featured Album of the Month, reviewed here by Neil McFadyen. One of the winning ingredients of that album, besides the wide-ranging material from the Scottish and Gaelic traditions, was their ability to distil that “energy and excitement of their live shows into studio sets that not only mirror the experience but also make room for intricate musical virtuosity that provides the very finest detail.”
The good folks at Trad TV (tradtv.scot) teamed up with Showcase Scotland Expo earlier this year to capture exclusive performances at The Visit showcasing event. They filmed Mànran performing Alpha which is taken from their An Dà Là album. A fine piece of “classic Gaelic rock that morphs perfectly into energetic puirt à beul, taking us on a whirlwind of vocals, pipes and accordion.”
