Earlier this year we reviewed Call to Arms, the latest offering from Canadian duo Harrow Fair comprising Miranda Mulholland (of Great Lake Swimmers and Belle Starr) and Andrew Penner (of Sunparlour Players). In his review of the album, David Kidman was keen to pin down a quality the duo had that was impossible to ignore:
“…whether gentle and plaintive or upfront and thrusting, the duo’s vocals have a feeling of being right there on the emotional edge, where the outcome could easily go either way (or else break down completely) – and that quality sure is tremendously exciting.”
As promised at the end of that review, which you can read in full here, he mentioned they were planning to return to the UK this year. Good to their word they have just announced a series of UK dates this autumn including shows in Milton Keynes, Sheffield, Bristol and London’s Green Note on November 8th (full details below).
