BBC Radio 2 Folk Award Nominees 2017 Ninebarrow have announced that they are currently working on album number three – The Waters and the Wild which they hope to release in the sping of next year. They revealed the following: “We’ve been spending a lot of time working on the song arrangements for the next album over the last few months. We’re working with some really incredible musicians to make that happen – and as many of you already know – Mr Lee Cuff (cellist extraordinaire) has been a key cog in the Ninebarrow ‘album machine’ since ‘While the Blackthorn Burns‘ was released in 2014. Here’s some footage we recorded at one of our recent rehearsals for a special trio concert we’ve got coming up in Dorset on the 13th October.”
Folklore
They have also been busy writing and recording an original soundtrack for a contemporary dance production called ‘Folklore’, which is being produced by the Off the Map Dance Company.
Trapped in a living state of limbo, Jay is controlled by her over protective sister on one side and drawn to an intriguing creature offering her a sense of freedom on the other. Set at a crossroads, Folklore is a tale of confronting inner fears and the struggles we go through with ourselves and loved ones. Will history repeat itself? Can Jay find her way out?
It’s all inspired by folk tales from Dorset, Devon and Somerset, and there will be three county ‘premier’ shows:
Exeter Pheonix – 12th September
Dorchester Corn Exchange – 20th September
The David Hall, South Petherton – 6th October
