Welcome to the very first in a new Folk Show series from Folk Radio UK. Our weekly Folk Show will bring you folk music from the past and present. There will be tunes, traditional ballads, songs of political dissent and contemporary songs inspired by the folk tradition. It will celebrate all that is folk music and may even include the odd exclusive here and there.
In each mix, you’ll find a contrasting songs or tunes. In our first, The Furrow Collective (main image above and winners of this years Best Group at the BBC Folk Awards) give us their version of Wild Hog after an earlier version by Eunice Yeatts MacAlexander…and it closes with another version by Michael and Carrie Kline. The mix also features The Unthanks whom we recently interviewed here and The Young’uns who have a new album on the way very soon, read about it here.
