UK singer-songwriter Lail Arad has released a brand new single with Canadian singer JF Robitaille. We Got It Coming (also our Song of the Day) is well timed for the 50th Anniversary of the Summer of Love. There are shades of late Sixties music throughout We Got It Coming, from Nancy Sinatra and Lee Hazlewood to Bob Dylan and The Beatles. I’m also sure there’s some Leonard Cohen in there somewhere, seeing as Lail is such a fan and JF’s own music has been compared to the man.
The video was filmed at Soho’s The Society Club where they had a weekly residency in April this year. Described by GQ as ‘a bookshop masquerading as a bar, a den of iniquity masquerading as a library’, The Society Club also published a book of lyrics and photographs to accompany Lail’s latest album The Onion. Published under the same name as the album, the book stands alone as “beautiful poetic works, seamlessly lending themselves to the written format. They flow between the melancholic and the quietly witty, rhythmically leading the reader through the book. The writing is accompanied by numerous portraits of the artist taken around Soho by photographer Flo Kohl- as natural and unpretentious as the lyrics.” It’s limited to 300 copies, you can order it here.
We Got it Coming drops this week on June 23rd via Sparks Music/Universal, the duo are expected to announce tour dates very soon.
