Watch the new music video by Metaxas performing Sirens. Talking about the song he said
“This is a song that reminisces about the passage of time, devotion to a person/cause, and the difficulties in avoiding temptation. It is a melancholic journey that laments the notion of believing in one’s choices.”
Metaxas is an artist you will not forget and neither is this video. Whilst it’s a poignant reminder of the passing of time- as it runs in reverse revealing a sad tale- it also questions human perception. He was recently asked what he wanted it out of this life…he answered: “I want to tour the world, sell records, but most of all; I want my music to speak for itself…” He’s certainly achieved the latter.
Although Metaxas now calls London his home, his determination and love of music was rewarded with a place at the internationally recognised Berklee College of Music in Boston where he honed his skills. With musical influences such as Jeff Buckley, Bon Iver and Bonobo it is no surprise that Nik has mastered a writing style that is honest, sensitive and moving. His raw, expressive lyrics and his gravelled, warm voice have a powerful effect.
